Tokyo, Kyoto and the Japanese Alps: a trip between the ancient and the ultramodern, where every train station is an adventure and every meal a work of art.
This is a trip idea, not a fixed package: every version is designed around the person living it.
Days 1-4
Tokyo: the future is already here
Shibuya, Shinjuku, Akihabara and Asakusa. The contrast between the Senso-ji temple and the glass skyscrapers. Sushi at Tsukiji, ramen at midnight and a karaoke session that runs late.
Tokyo is travelled by train and every district is a city of its own. You go from a wooden temple to a twenty-metre screen in one stop, and the strange thing is that the two live together without getting in each other’s way.

Days 5-8
Kyoto and Nara: tradition
The thousand torii of Fushimi Inari, the bamboo grove of Arashiyama, a tea ceremony in a Zen garden and the deer of Nara eating from your hand. Kyoto is explored slowly.
Kyoto keeps the Japan you imagine before coming: wood, gardens and a slower pace. The thousand torii of Fushimi Inari are climbed early, when the path is still silent.

Mount Fuji and the Japanese Alps
The shinkansen to Hakone, Mount Fuji reflected in Lake Ashi and an onsen (hot spring bath) with a view of the mountains. The trip ends as it should: in calm.
The shinkansen leaves on time to the second and in two hours the landscape changes. Fuji does not always show itself, and when it does everything stops. The onsen is taken at the end of the day, and it is the best way to close a trip like this.
