From the Taj Mahal to the roof of the world
The marble of Agra, the forts of Jaipur and the temples of the Himalayas
The idea
This is how we picture it
India’s Golden Triangle (Delhi, Agra and Jaipur) and a hop to the Himalayas to finish in Kathmandu. It is the trip with the most stimuli per square metre in this catalogue, which is why it is designed calmly: pace, altitude and meals are adjusted to the person living it.
This is a trip idea, not a fixed package: every version is designed around the person living it.
Days 1-3
Delhi, two cities in one
The Old Delhi of bazaars and the Friday Mosque, by rickshaw, and the New Delhi of colonial avenues and the India Gate.
The rickshaw is not for show: it is the only sensible way to move through alleys where a car does not fit.
Old Delhi, India
Day 4
Agra and the Taj Mahal
The Taj Mahal at dawn, when the marble turns from pink to white, and the red fort of Agra across the river.
It is the most photographed building in the world and even so, the first sight of it in person wins. Nobody leaves the same as they came in.
Days 5-6
Jaipur, the pink city
Amber Fort up high, the Palace of the Winds with its nine hundred windows and the hand block-printing workshops.
Jaipur was painted pink in 1876 to welcome a prince, and it stayed that way. The colour works best at sunset.
Hawa Mahal, Jaipur
Days 7-10
Kathmandu and the Himalayas
Three nights in Nepal: the Boudhanath stupa, the temples of Durbar Square, an aarti ceremony on the riverbank and, with clear skies, the Himalayas in the background.
Nepal turns the volume down after India. It is the right ending: the trip finishes in calm, in the shadow of the highest mountains there are.
Boudhanath stupa, Kathmandu
With clear skies, the highest mountains in the world serve as the backdrop.
