The idea

This is how we picture it

A diagonal route across Europe that few people do in full: it starts in Milan, crosses the Alps by Lake Annecy, stops in Lyon and Paris, comes down through the castles of the Loire and Bordeaux to Lourdes, and ends in Madrid by way of San Sebastián.

This is a trip idea, not a fixed package: every version is designed around the person living it.

Days 1-2

Milan and the Alps

The Duomo and the Galleria in Milan, then across the Alps with a stop in Annecy: a town of canals with the cleanest water in France.

Annecy is the secret of the itinerary: they call it the Venice of the Alps, and it is so pretty it looks drawn.

Days 3-5

Lyon and Paris

Lyon, the gastronomic capital of France, and two nights in Paris with just enough time for the essentials and a dinner worth the trip.

People eat better in Lyon than almost anywhere in Europe, and they know it: the bouchons are local heritage.

Days 6-7

The Loire, Bordeaux and Lourdes

The castles of Blois and the Loire valley, an afternoon in Bordeaux and a night in Lourdes, where the candlelight procession goes out every night of the year.

Lourdes is moving whatever the faith of the person arriving: eight million people a year cannot be a coincidence.

Sanctuary of Lourdes, France

Days 8-9

San Sebastián and Madrid

A stop in San Sebastián and its bay of La Concha, and the finale in Madrid: a museum, tapas and a last Spanish night.

Ending in Madrid is ending on a high: the city does not let the trip fade on its last day.
